NuWaves’ RF Photonic Link Modules are a complete system solution for your RF distribution needs. These modules distribute an RF signal across printed circuit boards or from one subsystem to another. The benefits are many, including: low cross coupling, immunity to inter-board EMI/RFI, high isolation of adjacent circuitry, low power, high reverse isolation, and miniature form factor.

The use of industry standard Transmitter Optical Sub Assembly (TOSA) and Receiver Optical Sub Assembly (ROSA) devices allows for innovative miniature module size and interconnection flexibility.

RF-Over-Fiber Transmitter & Receiver Modules with Digital Signal Support

Originally developed on a Phase II SBIR program, NuWaves’ Fiber Optic RF Distribution (FORD) product provides RF and digital signal distribution over fiber optic cabling using a patent-pending Dual Carrier Multi-Modulated (DCMM™) technique. FORD provides low cross coupling, immunity to inter-board EMI/RFI, high isolation of adjacent circuitry, low power, and high reverse isolation for RF signals. Additionally, FORD is unique in that it allows for up to three discrete digital data or clock signals to accompany the RF signal.

FORD accepts RF signals from 10 MHz and 4 GHz, digital data rates up to 100 Mbps and digital clock rates up to 50 MHz.

The miniature form-factor FORD system consists of a 1.00″ x 1.00″ x 0.68″ transmitter module and a 1.00″ x 1.00″ x 0.68″ receiver module. The FORD evaluation board, pictured above, is also available to simplify testing and integration.
